Dr. Peter C. YoungFor the second year in a row, the John Hancock Non-Profit Boston Marathon Program has awarded 4 of its coveted entry number “bibs” to the Atrius Health Foundation.  Atrius Health is an alliance of seven leading community-based groups – Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates is one of them – that joined together to transform the delivery of health care in eastern and central Massachusetts.

Once again, we have selected 4 enthusiastic runners, each of whom has made a commitment to raise a minimum of $6,000 before the Boston Marathon starting gun goes off on Monday, April 15, 2013.

This year, we are proud to share that Harvard Vanguard is being ably represented by Peter C. Young, MD, Director of Central Medical Specialties at our Kenmore practice. To date, Peter has raised more than $4,000. Please help him reach his $6,000 goal by supporting his run! (Details on how you can contribute are below.)

“Running the Boston Marathon has been one of my lifelong dreams,” says Peter.  “When I heard that the Atrius Health Foundation had been selected once again as an official non-profit partner of the Boston Marathon, I felt an instant rush of excitement. The opportunity to raise funds for such an amazing Foundation is a dream come true for me.”

The funds raised by Peter and his fellow teammates will support Atrius Health Foundation programs that:

  • Help the frail elderly through a fall prevention program
  • Help patients needing better access to medical care
  • Help victims of natural disasters, such as Hurricane Sandy
  • Help homeless people through donations of furniture and medical supplies to homeless shelters
  • Help employees facing financial emergencies
